Associate HR Generalist

Summary of
Responsibilities:
Working with the VP of HR and other HR staff, assists with recruiting and provides HR support to the Gerber Life Fremont site.
Point of contact for inquiries regarding policies, procedures, payroll, timekeeping, benefits and leave of absence.

Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
Manages employee-facing communications on HR-related issues.

Updates relevant HR websites, HR materials and new posts to ensure policies, FAQs, news posts, emails and other communication vehicles are up to date and accurate.

Recognizes trends in requests from employees and suggests policy clarifications or communication reminders to help drive self-service and policy comprehension.

Serves as liaison between corporate and employees for payroll and benefit escalation issues.

Serves as a liaison between employees and W&S self-service on unresolved issues.

Coaches, advises and recommends corrective actions regarding attendance-related issues.

Communicates with Human Resources VP and HRBPs regarding employee relation issues.
Coordination and Management of Leaves of Absence
Monitors employee leaves ensuring appropriate processes are in place and follows-through, including communication to the proper Company personnel regarding employees leave status.

Ensures proper building access is in place.

Liaison between W&S and employee as needed to clarify unresolved leave questions or processes.

Liaison between IT and Supervisor to ensure equipment and IT access is properly addressed.

Initiates equipment retrieval during leave for IT access to remain active.

Works with Legal regarding accommodations.

Coordinates Workers Compensation issues and OSHA requirements.
Staffing & Recruitment
Assists in the hiring process as primary backup support to Recruiter.

TMS knowledge and support.

Assists in recruiting avenues including job fairs and colleges.

Conducts New Hire Orientations as necessary.
Reporting
Runs ad-hoc people reports as needed.

Performs other duties/projects as assignedSelection Criteria:

Demonstrated Human Resource experience including employee relations, benefits and payroll.

Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal employment law and applications, as well as training and development.

Demonstrated strong conflict management and facilitating change skills.

Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, reading comprehension skills, interpersonal skills and employee relations.

Demonstrated strong organizational skills in maintaining electronic and paper documents and determining the best times to use each.

Proven strong analytical, conceptual thinking, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Demonstrated basic mathematical skills in order to perform moderately complex calculations for salary and benefit administration using a calculator and/or computer system.

Proven ability to work in a team environment and deal effectively with all levels of employees throughout the organization.

Demonstrated training, presentation and facilitation skills.
Work Setting:

This position works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.

Position requires substantial movement of wrist, hands and fingers for continuous computer work.
Educational Requirements:

Associates degree in human resources management or business-related field or five years of work experience will be considered acceptable in lieu of a full degree.
Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and working with an HR system.
Certifications & Licenses (i.

Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SHRM-CP) certification a plus.
