Packaging Specialist

Gerber Products Company dba Nestl Infant Nutrition is seeking a Packaging Specialist in our Fremont, MI facility.
Technical lead on project teams to deliver innovation and renovation portfolio and optimization/improvement projects. Represent Technical Application Group as subject matter expert for packaging to transfer knowledge to the factories. Collaborate internally and externally to build relationships in order to continuously improve technical skills and personal development.
Introduction of new packaging and processes within factories and external manufacturers. Collaborate and influence internal and external project teams (Teams are made up of PTC, Product Developers, Project Managers, Quality, Regulatory, Engineering, Packaging, Factories, Marketing, Co-Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Supply Chain, etc.) to develop, industrialize, and launch on a complex range of Innovation and Renovation projects.
Continuously improve/optimize current packaging and processes within factories and external manufacturers according to local business needs. Lead technical projects including technical assistance, sourcing, quality improvements, compliance, and productivity cost savings. This includes establishing and managing timelines, uncovering roadblocks, defining critical paths, and identifying resource constraints.
Provide first line support to factories. Ensure knowledge transfer related to product/packaging/process mastership to eliminate the root cause of assistance requests
Ensure adherence to all packaging standards. Comply with Nestl requirements (includes Sustainability, Packaging Safety), external standards, and local regulatory framework. Develop and/or assist in the development of market level packaging/process standards within the Nestl systems.
Develop expertise for product/packaging/process mastership within TAG. Develop the competencies required for product/packaging/process mastership to enable manufacturing excellence. Provide guidance and input to Operations for Standard Operating Procedures.
Continuous improvement of technical skills and personal development, while expanding internal and external networks.
B.S. Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, or similar technical engineering degree. Position requires approximately 25% travel (project dependent).
Minimum of 3 years experience preferred in packaging or related field of work
Experience with aseptic, retort, hot-fill, and dry filling processes desired.
Experience with a broad range of packaging formats, materials (flexible films, rigid containers, paperboard, corrugate, etc ), and packaging performance tests is a plus
-Interpersonal communication skills, written and verbal communication, organizational skills, project management skills must all be strong.
-Must be capable of working in a fast-paced, team environment with minimal direct supervision and the ability to adhere to aggressive deadlines

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
